Hey, do I look happy, or what !!

Its Spring again; I can tell because one of my favorite things to do outdoors is to jump and snap bugs out of the air. It’s not the same when its snowflakes.

My name is Lotsa, and I am from the Shelters Class of 2004. I was born July 4 at the Shelter, along with my 8 brothers and sisters.

Being part border collie, I have a nice warm coat, and my least favorite season is summer. But I do love being outdoors, chasing the Frisbee, taking walks, and just keeping an eye on everything going on around my yard. I like riding in the car and truck, and DO NOT like being left at home by myself. I have a very comfortable crate, but I’m well behaved and know my parents take me with them whenever they can. My parents have learned my likes and dislikes really well, so life is GOOD.

I’m not the greatest “social animal” you will ever meet; I’m in a one dog family, and that’s the way I like it. My Dad helps out with things going on at the Shelter; it’s a good thing he does, or I never would have met him. It must be really hard to see people come and go at the Shelter, but the dogs and cats there at least have a good chance of being adopted. The staff spends all their time cleaning and feeding, and looking for good homes for them.

My Dad told me to mention that if you are looking for a new member of your family, four legged, to please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Yates County, or any county for that matter. It’s so much more rewarding than buying one from a private breeder or store. The animals at Shelters didn’t choose to be there, and deserve a second chance. Most shelters have an area to visit with the animal you are thinking about adopting, and the staff knows a lot about the animal from the time they have spent at the shelter. Try very hard not to take one home, and then find out it’s not the right one for your family or your home environment.

Well, its time for one of my daily walks. Stop in and visit the animals in your town’s shelter. Take someone home with you if at all possible. It will make their day and yours, and many more in the future, too.
 

 

 

The Shelter of Hope is the first ever in Yates County. We will offer a wide variety of services to the public, such as a crematory to help you deal with the loss of a pet. We also offer our Community Education room to various clubs and youth groups to hold meetings and learn about the proper care of animals. Our shelter is a very bright and cheerful place to visit. You will be welcomed at the door by one of our official greeter cats. There is so much to see at our shelter. You can watch our cats have fun in their Cat Garden or in the Cat Solarium, where they get lots of sunlight and fresh air! We need lots of volunteers to play with our cats and dogs. We are able to stay open only with the generosity of private donations. So won't you help the animals in Yates County and donate to The Shelter of Hope!  We thank you and so do the animals.

Who We Are

We are a group of volunteers and a staff of 4 who are dedicated to helping the animals of Yates County find quality homes. No animal will be destroyed due to the lack of a quality home. We try to put the animals in foster care homes to be socialized and generally to see how they will adjust, but we still need lots of people who are willing to be "Foster Parents". Our Mission

The mission of the Humane Society of Yates County is to advance the humane treatment of animals in Yates County, New York. This is accomplished through actions which promote the adoption of stray or unwanted animals, which reduce cruelty to dogs and cats, and which reduce the over breeding of domestic animals. The Humane Society of Yates County depends on volunteer and private financial assistance from the residents of Yates County to carry out its program.   To carry out our mission, the Shelter of Hope has been established.
